Mission Purpose
Regional and local monitoring

Current Tasks
The Resurs-P series satellite data is used for following tasks:

  • Natural resources study;

  • Environmental pollution and degradation monitoring, environmental pollution identification and study, and water protection and protected area monitoring;

  • Data support of exploration activity;

  • Ice conditions assessment;

  • Natural resources inventory to provide rational activity in different economy branches;

  • Emergency monitoring;

  • Socioeconomic infrastructure monitoring;

  • Data support of engineering survey;

  • Construction and update of cadastre plans and topographic and navigation maps;

  • Identification of vegetation type and condition, sea surface pollution composition, and minerals and soils;

  • Detection, monitoring and eradication of illicit drug-yielding crops.

The data acquired may be used for promoting international cooperation of Russia in environmental monitoring and protection and for addressing other challenges of the Earth remote sensing.

Spacecraft Features

  • Super high spatial resolution is more than 1.0 m;

  • RPC-polynomials is an instrument to improve the accuracy and speed up of data processing;

  • Stereo imaging is the capability of 3D modeling

1.Multispectral very high-resolution equipment

  • Duration of routes: from 2 to 300 seconds;

  • Resolution on ground:
    — no worse than 1 m (panchromatic mode);
    — 2-3 m (multispectral mode);

  • Spectral bands (µm):
    — Panchromatic (0.58÷0.8);
    — Blue (0.45÷0,52);
    — Green (0.52÷0.6);
    — Red (0.61÷0.68; 0.67÷0.7; 0.7÷0.73);
    — Red edge + near IR (0.72÷0,8; 0.8÷0.9)

2.Wide-angle multispectral high-resolution camera

  • Swath width at nadir: 97 km;

  • Resolution on ground (pixel projection):
    — no worse than 12 m (panchromatic mode);
    — 23.8 m (multispectral mode);

  • Spectral bands (µm):
    — 0.43÷0.9 (panchromatic);
    — 0.43÷0.51 (blue);
    — 0.51÷0.58 (green);
    — 0.6÷0.7 (red);
    — 0.7÷0.9 (near IR)

3. Wide-angle multispectral medium-resolution camera

  • Swath width at nadir: 441 km;

  • Resolution on ground (pixel projection):
    — no worse than 60 m (panchromatic mode);
    — 120 m (multispectral mode);

  • Spectral bands (µm):
    — 0.43÷0.7 (panchromatic);
    — 0.43÷0.51 (blue);
    — 0.51÷0.58 (green);
    — 0.60÷0.7 (red);
    — 0.7÷0.9 (near IR)

4. Hyperspectral imaging equipment

  • Swath width at nadir: 25 km;

  • Resolution on ground (pixel projection): no worse than 30 m;

  • Spectral bands (µm): 0.4÷1.1;

  • Number of spectral channels: no less than 96;

  • Spectral resolution: 5-10 nm
