Outcomes of 11th Annual All-Russian Open Conference on Actual Problems in Remote Sensing of the Earth from Space. / November 22, 2013 /

The 11th Annual All-Russian Open Conference on Actual Problems in Remote Sensing of Earth from Space (basic physics, methods and technologies for monitoring of the environment, natural and man-made objects) was held on 11-15 November 2013.
The Conference promoters are the Russian Academy of Sciences, RAS’s Space Council, ROSCOSMOS, and ROSHYROMET; the organizer is Space Research Institute of RAS.

The NTs OMZ’s specialists took an active part in the section meetings and presented the following reports:

1. E.A. Baldina, P.V. Denisov, A.M. Martyanov, K.A. Troshko. The Possibilities of Using Satellite Radar Data in Agricultural Land Monitoring (poster paper).

2. L.A. Grishantseva, K.S. Emelyanov, A.V. Kondratov, T.G. Kurevleva, V.S. Markov, A.S. Rybkin, V.V. Tikhonychev. Absolute Calibration of Data from the RESURS-P1 Hyperspectral Instrumentation: Comparison of Estimated and Measured Spectral Radiance.

3. M.A. Gusev, P.V. Denisov, A.I. Zakharov, A.A. Feoktistov. Studying the Capabilities of Permanent Scatterer Technique Using the ASAR/ENVISAT Data.

4. A.P. Dolzhenko, A.G. Zhilichkin, V.P. Kovalenko, A.V. Kondtratov, S.V. Smirnov, V.V. Tikhonychev, A.M. Fedorchenko, A.V. Khudyakov. Verification of the RESURS-P1 Spacecraft Characteristics During Orbital Operation Using Validation System.

5. S.G. Kolesnikov, V.N. Shumeiko. The Role of the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters in Emergency Monitoring.

6. V.Yu. Mazalova, A.A. Peshkun. Stereo Pair Construction Using the RESURS-P1 Stereo Imagery Data.

7. E.A. Morozov, A.A. Pestryakov, V.P. Savorsky. General-Purpose System for Space Data Processing and Cataloging.

8. A.A. Peshkun. Construction of Stereo Pairs Using the KANOPUS-V Data.

Following the tradition established last years, on 15 November 2013 at NTs OMZ the out plenary meeting on the Russian System of Satellite Observations and Technologies: State-of-the-Art and Prospects was held. The meeting was attended by more than 100 specialists from 45 lead research, production and commercial organizations of Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan; 18 oral reports and 17 poster reports were presented.
The out session was attended by representatives of the Federal Space Agency. M.N. Khailov, Head of Department of Technical Policy and Quality, ROSCOSMOS in his opening address noted the incontestable significance of organizing and holding such events contributing to efficient cooperation and exchange of experience between research, production and commercial organizations in the Earth remote sensing.
During the out session there were considered such issues as technical characteristics and processing techniques of data from operative and future spacecraft (KANOPUS-V, RESURS-P1, METEOR-M2, OBZOR-O), and technologies for satellite data use. Several papers presented the capabilities of geoinformation services in remote sensing data distribution (the ROSCOSMOS Geoportal, International Charter on Space and Major Disasters). Particular emphasis was placed on hyperspectral imagery features and techniques of standard and value-added processing of such data.

The out plenary meeting program can be found here.

Abstracts of papers and plenary and section meeting programs are available on the Conference official site.
