Meteor-M No.2 Preparation for Putting into Operation Coming to an End. / January 20, 2015 /The in-flight tests of the Meteor-M No.2 satellite being a part of the Meteor-3M space system completed. Meteor-M No.2 satellite was launched on 8 July 2014 from Baikonur. It will replace Meteor-M No.1 lofted on 17 September 2009 that has reached its 5-year warranty active lifetime. During the tests, all onboard system operability was checked, the onboard special-purpose equipment characteristics were assessed, and the onboard information system measured performance was calibrated and specified at large. The spacecraft preparation for commissioning is coming to an end. According to the stakeholders, data from such imagers as MSU-MR multispectral low-resolution scanning device, KMSS multispectral imagery system, and SEVERYANIN-M onboard radar system exceeds in its consumer characteristics the data from the similar devices on board Meteor-M No.1. The MTVZA-GY microwave radiometer, GGAK-M heliogeophysical instrument package, and IKFS-2 Fourier-spectrometer installed on board the Meteor-type spacecraft for the first time have been successfully tested and are being used for their targets. The data from all spacecraft information complexes is currently being transmitted to the benefit of the Roshydromet as the State thematic customer and of other space data consumers.
