An earthquake measuring 7,1 occurred on April 14 at 7:49 am in the countyof Yuyshu, Yuyshu Tibetan Prefecture, Qinghai Province, Northwest China. Its epicenter had coordinates: 33.1 degrees north latitude and 96.7 degrees east longitude, the focus was located at a depth of 33 km.Zemletryasenie occurred 30 km from the village Tszegu, which is the administrative center of this district.

Yuyshu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is located in the southeast of Qinghai — a multinational province in central China. In the district Yuyshu live 250 000 people, mostly representatives of the Tibetan nationality. Most of the population employed in agriculture and animal husbandry. Yuyshu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is located on the eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, its administrative center — the village Tszegu, which is eight hundred kilometers south of Xining.
