Currently, the task of preventing, operational monitoring of disasters both natural and man-made, as well as to determine damages, the central role played by the use of remote sensing data.

In summer 2010 NTs OMZ already had experience of operational monitoring of fires in the European part of Russia. Data are presented on the website under «Projects».

NTs OMZ plans in spring 2011 to conduct real-time monitoring of flood situations throughout Russia. To do this, planned regular shooting operational spacecraft ("Meteor-M» № 1, «Resource-DK») river basins prone to annual spring floods. This is Don, Lower Volga, Dnieper, Bear, Hopper, Oka, Big Irgiz, Desna, Volkhov, Dvina, Vetluga, Ob Tobol Ishim, Irtysh, Yenisei, Lena, Angara, etc.

Upon receipt of remote sensing data and under favorable weather conditions for the shooting, the information will be presented on the site NTs OMZ.

In the summer of 2011, in the event of a fire on the Russian territory management, data on the occurrence of fires, smoke plume distribution, etc. will be presented on the site NTs OMZ online.
