Workshop of International Charter on Space and Major Disasters at NTs OMZ. / October 26, 2012 /

The two-day workshop for the ROSKOSMOS Center employees of the Charter took place from 25 to 26 September 2012 at NTs OMZ.

The workshop was devoted to the arrangement of the collaboration of the Remote Sensing System Operator (NTs OMZ of JSC Russian Space Systems) and FKU National Center for Crisis Management (NTSUKS) of EMERCOM of Russia with the International Charter on Space and Major Disaster (hereinafter referred to as Charter). The workshop was attended by Brenda K. Jones the Disaster Response Coordinator of the U.S. Geological Survey, the member of the Charter Executive Secretariat.
During the workshop with the participation of the ROSKOSMOS and EMERCOM of Russia representatives there were worked through the algorithms of officials interaction concerning the ordering and delivery of remote sensing data from the Charter to the benefit of the EMERCOM of Russia as well as the requirements for drafting of reporting documentation on such data use in the context of „Regulations on Collaboration of the Organizations of ROSKOSMOS (NTs OMZ) and EMERCOM of Russia (FKU National Center for Crisis Management) with the Organizations of the International Charter on Space and Major Disaster“.

The Charter Executive Secretariat representative was demonstrated the readiness of the Remote Sensing System Operator’s specialists to carry out the duties of the Charter officials responsible for an operational processing of the Charter requests for delivery of space data from the Russian and foreign space agencies and remote sensing system operators. The readiness of the ROSKOSMOS and its Remote Sensing System Operator to continue with their work on the accession to the Charter was confirmed.

The workshop became a timely and important constructive step on the threshold of the next 28th meeting of the Charter Board and Executive Secretariat with the participation of ROSKOSMOS.
