The 36th Meeting of CEOS Working Group on Information Systems and Services (WGISS-36). / October 2, 2013 /

The International Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) was established in 1984 aimed at international coordination of Earth observation satellite systems. Currently, the Committee consists of 4 Working Groups:

— Calibration/Validation (WGCV);
— Information Systems and Services (WGISS);
— Capacity Building and Data Democracy (WGCapD);
— Climate (WGClimate).
Since 2010, JSC Russian Space Systems is a member of WGCV and takes an active part in its annual meetings, and since 2013 is a member of WGISS.
The WGISS activity is aimed at providing end users with maximum access to satellite data from different space systems. With this in mind, the WGISS members are engaged in elaborating the recommendations on unification and upgrading of existing and future geoinformation systems and services based on the international standards.
The scheduled 36th meeting of Working Group on Information Systems and Services (WGISS-36) was held on September 16 through September 19, 2013 in Frascati, Italy at the ESA’s Centre for Earth Observation (ESRIN / ESA).
The Meeting was attended by more than 30 specialists from 12 countries (USA, Canada, Italy, France, Great Britain, Japan and others) including by representatives of ROSCOSMOS and its enterprises.
In Section „Cloud Technologies“ T. Ganina, specialist from the NTs OMZ, JSC Russian Space Systems presented her paper „Geoinformation Services of the Russian Remote Sensing Space System Operator“.
