Automatic interplanetary station "Phobos-Grunt" delivered to the Baikonur Cosmodrome. / October 18, 2011 /

October 17 at the airport «Jubilee» Baikonur aircraft An-124-100 «Ruslan» (airline «flight») brought an automatic interplanetary station (AIS) «Phobos-Grunt».

After the customs inspection of the cargo container with the AMC «Phobos-Grunt» and auxiliary equipment were loaded from the aircraft on the shipping platform. Delivery is carried out on an interplanetary space station platform 31, which will host its further preparations for the launch.

Starting interplanetary station «Phobos-Grunt» by carrier rocket «Zenit-2SB» is scheduled for November.

Project «Phobos-Grunt» involves the creation of automatic space segment to provide for the collection and delivery to Earth of samples of soil from a satellite of Mars — Phobos, carrying out a complex research of Phobos and Mars remote and contact methods, as well as the creation of a unified multi-purpose module designed to address number of fundamental and applied problems of space research.
