Proton-M Launch Scheduled for 28 December. / December 19, 2016 /

The Proton-M carrier rocket with the EchoStar 21 communication spacecraft prelaunch processing is in progress at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The prelaunch processing procedures are in accordance with the schedule. Proton-M is scheduled for launch on 28 December 2016 at 19:02:54 MSK. EchoStar 21 will be placed into the desired orbit by the Breeze-M upper stage.

EchoStar 21 is a powerful geostationary communication satellite manufactured by Space Systems/Loral for the EchoStar Corporation (US), a premier global provider of satellite communication. EchoStar 21 is designed to provide mobile communication services in Europe. EchoStar 21 will be the sixth satellite of the EchoStar in-orbit constellation to be launched by Proton-M. The contract for the EchoStar 21 launch with the Proton-M carrier rocket was concluded by the International Launch Services Inc. (ILS) Russian-American enterprise, the Khrunichev Space Center subsidiary.
