Roskosmos handed operation meteorologists Hydrometeorological complex «Electro.» It is stated on the website of the Federal Space Agency.

System, «Electro» consists of a ground-based satellite and «Electro-L». The satellite was launched in late January 2011. Up to this point in Roskosmos conducted tests of the new system.

The unit will provide weather observation throughout the Asian part of Russia. Among other things, the device will be able to carry out surveying the entire disk of the Earth in visible and infrared ranges with a resolution of 1 and 4 km respectively.

According to the director of Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand, which results in «Interfax» in the coming years it is planned to start another unit, which will see the European part of Russia and the Urals. In addition, creates a separate system of observations over the Arctic.
