ISS-Reshetnev Embarks on New Satellite Construction Projects. / January 10, 2017 /

New satellite construction work kicked off officially in the late December following entry into effect of the contract signed between the ISS-Reshetnev Company and Russian Satellite Communication Company in the middle of 2016.

The Express-80 and Express-103 spacecraft will be built around the ISS-Reshetnev’s Express-1000 standardized medium-class platform. Payloads for the two satellites are traditionally subcontracted to the European Company Thales Alenia Space and they will be fitted with 38 (Express-80) and 37 (Express-103) transponders operating in C-, Ku- and L- frequency bands.

By now, the ISS-Reshetnev Company has conducted preliminary contract work with its industrial partners for the delivery of various components and onboard equipment. Apart from that the production of service systems’ instruments and ground equipment is also well under way now.

The Express-80 and Express-103 communication spacecraft are scheduled to be placed into geostationary orbit in 2019. The spacecraft active lifetime is 15 years during which they will provide fixed and mobile communications, digital television and radio broadcasting, high-speed internet access, and data communications over the territory of Russia and GIS-countries.

The ISS Company also completed developing the high-performance procedures for testing electronic equipment on board spacecraft. As part of the Kantat design and development work, the ISS’s specialists in cooperation with the scientists from TPU, TGUВ and Institute of Computational Modeling SB RAS (Krasnoyarsk) developed, manufactured and tested the new equipment for detecting hidden faults in satellite payload.

The computer-aided nondestructive check technologies developed by the Siberian partnership led by the ISS Company enable the increased accuracy and reduced time of space material and product internal structure examinations.
