Operations and experiments on the International Space Station, September 1, 2011

September 1, the number of daily necessary activities of Russian cosmonauts Andrei Borisenko, Alexander Samokutyaev and Sergei Volkov will conduct testing of satellite navigation, check cable circuit board simulator teleoperatornogo control mode, fill the water tank of the «Elektron» and start packing the return of equipment in the ship «Soyuz TMA -21».

Russian astronauts scheduled for the program of scientific experiments.

Biomedical research:
study of growth and development of higher plants, as well as the development of the technology of their cultivation in microgravity («Plants-2»);
study the influence of space factors on the state of the systems «micro-organisms — substrates» as applied to the problem of ecological safety of space technology and planetary quarantine («Biorisk»);
investigation of the physiological functions of the body-contact method during sleep during long-duration space flight («Sonokard»);
control study group activity of the crew during space flight («Interactions»).
study of the effect of space flight on the autonomic regulation of circulatory, respiratory and cardiac contractile function in long-term space flight («Pnevmokard»);
study of the dynamics of body composition and distribution of human body fluids during prolonged space flight («Octopus 2»).

Space biotechnology:
study of the correlation between the change in genetic properties, the productivity of recombinant strains in microgravity and the effects on them of heavy charged cosmic ray particles («Biotrack»);
determine the effect of exposure to conditions of orbital flight on the growth, genetic and physiological characteristics of the producer strain lactol («lactol»);
study of the effects of space flight on bacteriophages («bacteriophage»);
to study the effect of microgravity on the solubility of calcium phosphates in the water («Calcium»);
to study the characteristics of a cell culture of ginseng and other crops in order to identify opportunities to increase their biological activity («Ginseng-2»).

Exploration of the solar system:
study of fast and thermal neutrons («BTN-Neutron»).

Investigation of the physical conditions in space orbiting the Earth:
study the dynamics of the radiation environment on the flight path and in ISS compartments, and dose accumulation in the anthropomorphic phantom, placed inside the station («Matryoshka-R»).

Remote sensing:
study of the characteristics of the underlying surface, ocean and atmosphere («microwave radiometry»);
research methods of interaction crew of the Russian segment of International Space Station with the courts Rosrybolovstva to search for and development of industrial-productive areas of the oceans) («Seiner»).

Geophysics and near-Earth space:
Monitoring seismic effects — bursts of high energy particles in near-Earth space («Splash»);
study of atmospheric gamma bursts and optical radiation in terms of thunderstorm activity («Lightning-Gamma»).

Technical research and experiments:
testing of equipment and demonstration of Russian technology round-trip information Space laser line («SLS»);
study of high-precision motion estimation ISS («Vector-T») — Standby mode.

The ISS crew is working 28-second long expedition in the Russian Federal Space Agency cosmonaut commander Andrei Borisenko, flight engineers and Samokutyaeva Alexander Sergei Volkov (Roscosmos), Ronald Garan and Michael Fossum (NASA), Satoshi Furukawa (JAXA).
