Operations and experiments on the International Space Station, September 8, 2011

On September 8 the Russian segment of International Space Station Russian Space Agency commander Andrei Borisenko, Alexander flight engineers Samokutyaev and Sergei Volkov will conduct re-entry spacecraft «Soyuz TMA-21» and the dismantling of the duct. At the time of connection mechanism sealing lid unit docking module «Search» to the onboard cable network crew TPK «Soyuz TMA-21» will go into the ship. After completing these steps the astronauts closed hooks module «Search», will remove the quick release screw terminal docking system and an internal transition, will set up and connect the lid sealing mechanism of the module docking unit «Search» to the onboard cable network will produce a check on the telemetry, conservation TPC ship "Soyuz TMA -21 "and mount the air duct. Also in the work plan on September 8, is filming the movie "The space station. Life in orbit "and the performance of service life-support system (coolant).

Russian astronauts scheduled for the program of scientific experiments.

Biomedical research: a study of growth and development of higher plants, as well as the development of the technology of their cultivation in microgravity («Plants-2»);
applied to the problem of ecological safety of space technology and planetary quarantine («Biorisk»).

Space biotechnology: the study of the correlation between the change in genetic properties, the productivity of recombinant strains in microgravity and the effects on them of heavy charged cosmic ray particles («Biotrack»);
determine the effect of exposure to conditions of orbital flight on the growth, genetic and physiological characteristics of the producer strain lactol («lactol»);
study of the effects of space flight on bacteriophages («bacteriophage»);
to study the effect of microgravity on the solubility of calcium phosphates in the water («Calcium»);
to study the characteristics of a cell culture of ginseng and other crops in order to identify opportunities to increase their biological activity («Ginseng-2»).

Exploration of the solar system: the study of fast and thermal neutrons («BTN-Neutron»).

Investigation of the physical conditions in space orbiting the Earth:
study the dynamics of the radiation environment on the flight path and in ISS compartments, and dose accumulation in the anthropomorphic phantom, placed inside the station («Matryoshka-R»).

Remote sensing:
study of the characteristics of the underlying surface, ocean and atmosphere («microwave radiometry»).

Geophysics and near-Earth space: the monitoring of seismic effects — bursts of high energy particles in near-Earth space («Splash»);
study of atmospheric gamma bursts and optical radiation in terms of thunderstorm activity («Lightning-Gamma»).

Technical research and experiments: a study of high-precision motion estimation ISS («Vector-T») testing of equipment and demonstration of Russian technology round-trip information Space laser line «SLS» — stand-by mode.

The ISS crew is working a 28-second long expedition in the Russian Federal Space Agency cosmonaut commander Andrei Borisenko, flight engineers and Samokutyaeva Alexander Sergei Volkov (Roscosmos), Ronald Garan and Michael Fossum (NASA), Satoshi Furukawa (JAXA).
