Operations and experiments on the International Space Station, September 14, 2011

On September 14 the Russian segment of International Space Station astronauts Space Agency commander Andrew Borisenko, flight engineers and Samokutyaev Alexander Sergei Volkov check regeneration saturation filter cartridge cleaning air of trace, will carry out monitoring mikroekosfery environment and sanitary-epidemiological status, will make packing the return of equipment in the ship «Soyuz TMA -21», test management communication from the spacecraft «Soyuz TMA-21», will take a «Soyuz TMA-21» experimental results «lactol», «Ginseng-2», «Bacteriophage», «Biotrack», followed by the transmission shift on the ISS Russian segment.

Russian astronauts scheduled for the program of scientific experiments.

Investigation of the physical conditions in space orbiting the Earth:
study the dynamics of the radiation environment on the flight path and in ISS compartments, and dose accumulation in the anthropomorphic phantom, placed inside the station («Matryoshka-R»).

Space biotechnology:
determine the effect of exposure to conditions of orbital flight on the growth, genetic and physiological characteristics of the producer strain lactol («lactol»);
to study the characteristics of a cell culture of ginseng and other crops in order to identify opportunities to increase their biological activity («Ginseng-2»);
study of the effects of space flight on bacteriophages («bacteriophage»);
study the effect of micro-gravity on the solubility of calcium phosphates in the water («Calcium»);
study of the correlation between the change in genetic properties, the productivity of recombinant strains in microgravity and the effects on them of heavy charged cosmic ray particles («Biotrack»).

Biomedical research:
study of growth and development of higher plants, as well as the development of the technology of their cultivation in microgravity («Plants-2»);
applied to the problem of ecological safety of space technology and planetary quarantine («Biorisk»);
to study the effect of space flight on the autonomic regulation of circulatory, respiratory and cardiac contractile function in long-term space flight («Pnevmokard»);
control group of the crew during space flight («Interactions»).

Geophysics and near-Earth space:
study of atmospheric gamma bursts and optical radiation in terms of thunderstorm activity («Lightning-Gamma»);
Monitoring seismic effects — bursts of high energy particles in near-Earth space («Splash»).

Technical research and experiments:
study of high-precision motion estimation ISS («Vector-T»);
testing of equipment and demonstration of Russian technology round-trip information Space laser line («SLS») — Standby mode.

Remote sensing:
study of the characteristics of the underlying surface, ocean and atmosphere («microwave radiometry»).

Medical examination:
training under the influence of negative pressure in the lower body.

The ISS crew is working a 28-second long expedition in the Russian Federal Space Agency cosmonaut commander Andrei Borisenko, flight engineers and Samokutyaeva Alexander Sergei Volkov (Roscosmos), Ronald Garan and Michael Fossum (NASA), Satoshi Furukawa (JAXA).
