Detection of Fire Area in Barguzin Region, Buryatia. / August 18, 2015 /

The fire area throughout approximately 65 square kilometers in the Barguzin Region (Republic of Buryatia) was detected using the Meteor-M No.2 data of August 17, 2015. There is no threat the inhabited settlements.

On 17 August 2015, approximately 78 thousand hectares of taiga are fire affected in the Baikal Region. The total fire area was reduced by more than 18 thousand hectares per weekend in the Siberian Federal District.

The operational imagery data from the Russian spacecraft is transmitted to the EMERCOM and used in fire-fighting.
