The last of the three recently launched satellites GLONASS-M has put into operation, the website of GLONASS system reported. So there is 18 satellites currently on orbit.

Three satellites GLONASS-M was launched on December 14 from Baikonur Cosmodrome. The first of them stated working on 10 January, the second — on 24 January. Results of the orbital constellation of GLONASS has 22 units. Two of them are derived from the system, another two are on maintenance.

To ensure continuous coverage territory of the RF signal is necessary that there were 18 in-orbit satellites. Navigate the world using the system «GLONASS» can be carried out when the composition of the group will include 24 units.

In September,on the orbit had to be run three more satellites GLONASS-M. Shortly before the start it was decided to dismantle the satelites.
