The expedition "Mars-500" crew reached the Martian orbit. / February 2, 2011 /

Virtual spaceship with the crew of project wich simulate the flight to the Red Planet «Mars-500» has reached Martian orbit, thereby start the main aim of the experiment — the landing on the planet, told to «Interfax» the press service of the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) RAS, in which the experiment takes place.

Waking up in the morning on February 1, experiment crew saw on their screens that simulate windows, enlarged image of Mars. This means that they have reached the Martian orbit.

Six participants of the experiment, has lived in isolation of 244 days, a few days will have to retrain the engineers and scientists in the longshoremen. That’s because the source explained that the crew will have access to previously closed module that simulates the landing craft. Until now, the module was used as a warehouse. Available in its cargo "marsonavtam will have to allocate to other modules.
Closer to 12 February, at which scheduled landing on Mars, course participants will simulate the descent of certain aspects of the effects of weightlessness on the body. In zero gravity, explained the representative of IBMP, blood rushes to your head and leaves the lower body. This effect will be artificially simulated: at night for the experiment will sleep upside down, with coal beds minus 12 degrees, and all day wear suits «the Centaur», which will not allow blood to return. In this condition, three participants in the experiment will live for several days.

February 12 «landing on the planet» will make a Russian Alexander Smoleevsky, Italian Diego Urbina and Chinese participants in the experiment Yue Wang. The second triple of the crew (Alex Sitev, Sukhrob Kamolov and Charles Roman) will be waiting for colleagues in orbit.
During a presence on Mars, the crew will make three exits on the surface of the planet. In the first and third exit will be attended by Smoleevsky and Urbina. The second — and Wang Yue Smoleevsky.
