Discovery Astronauts completed the spacewalk.. / September 2, 2009 /

American astronauts, Danny Olivas and Nicole Stott completed the spacewalk, Space.com reported. Members of the «Discovery» crew back to the board on Wednesday, September 2, at 08:23 Moscow time. The spacewalk has taken about 6,5 hours.

In the course of the work the astronauts removed a huge tank of ammonia, a part of the cooling system of the station. In addition, they installed on the ISS fixings needed for installation of experimental equipment. Because of the interference caused by the storm on Earth, experts that supervise the mission from Earth, at 30 minutes lost contact with the astronauts.

During the second exit into space crew «Discovery» establish a new station on a tank of ammonia. Total space shuttle astronauts commit three space walks.

Shuttle «Discovery» was launched to orbit on August 28 at 07:59 Moscow time. The launch was carried out with the fourth attempt. Once the shuttle launch was postponed due to weather, and three times — for technical reasons. The fears aroused engineers filling system and discharge of liquid hydrogen in the fuel tank.
