Progress M-10M had to docked manually.. / May 3, 2011 /

The crew of the International Space Station was forced to dock the cargo spacecraft «Progress M-10M» manually, ITAR-TASS reported.

The operation was performed commander ISS-27 Dmitri Kondratiev. Why it was decided to abandon the automatic docking system, not reported. The device was attached at 18:29 in the Russian module «Pirs». «Progress» delivered into orbit 2.6 tons of food, water, fuel, and various scientific equipment.

Once a day for long distance, scientists included engines unit. Then with the Incoherent Scatter Radar Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics, Siberian Branch of RAS, they watched the effect produced on the ionosphere.
