Rokot space roket successfully put into orbit a Japanese satellite, SERVIS-2.. / June 3, 2010 /

Launcher Rokot wich has start today, June 2, at 5:00 59 minutes 11 seconds (MSCs) from the Plesetsk space center has successfully placed into orbit a Japanese spacecraft" SERVICE-2 »(SERVIS-2). Start conducted military calculations of the Space Forces. The spacecraft with a mass of approximately 740 kg was placed on the sun — synchronous circular orbit at an altitude of 1200 km and an inclination of 100.42 degrees. SERVIS-2 are taken to manage the customer.

The contract for the launch of a spacecraft SERVIS-2 using a Russian rocket — the media have concluded Institute of unmanned space experiments — USEF (Tokyo, Japan) and the company Eurockot Launch Services GmbH (Bremen, Germany) in 2007. Eurockot Launch Services GmbH is a joint venture between EADS Astrium and the State Space Scientific Production Center Khrunichev. SP Eurockot provides commercial service launch vehicle Rokot established GKNPTs Khrunichev, the world market launches of spacecraft into low orbit.

SERVIS-2 — the second spacecraft, built under the program "Integrated test the reliability of the space environment» (Space Environment Reliability Verification Integrated System). The task of the satellite SERVIS-2 will test the reliability of commercial technologies and COTS — components (ready to use on-board systems and equipment, created based on open technologies) in the space environment. Previously, the company has provided Eurockot launch of a spacecraft in this program, SERVIS-1. SERVIS-1 spacecraft was successfully launched into orbit from the Plesetsk launch rocket Rokot in October 2003.

For AC Eurockot launching of SERVIS-2 became the 10th commercial launch vehicles Rokot.

Launch vehicle light class Rokot established Federal State Unitary Enterprise «State Research and Production Center Khrunichev» on the basis removed from service two-stage ballistic missile RS-18 and is designed to launch satellites weighing up to two tons into low Earth orbit. Rokot consists of 3 stages. The first two steps represent a block of accelerators strategic missile RS-18 (SS-19). As a third step uses a new upper stage Breeze-KM, also designed and manufactured at the Center Khrunichev. Launching spacecraft SERVICE-2 «a 13-m flight in the history of» rumble ".

Previous launch within the framework of the joint venture Eurockot held November 2, 2009. PH Rokot delivered into orbit two satellites for the European Space Agency: SC SMOS (as the main payload) and minisatellite PROBA-2.

In April 2010 the joint venture Eurockot and ESA signed a new contract for two launches of Rokot. One group — the launch satellites SWARM, designed to study the Earth, which is scheduled for 2012.
