The last Discovery shuttle mission extended for a day.

NASA has decided to extend the mission for a day «Discovery» — the latest in the history of the shuttle, said portal Space.Com. Landing of Discovery at the launch site at Cape Canaveral moved from 8 to 9 March 2011.

Thus, the officials said NASA, space shuttle mission will last 13 days. An extra day, they explained, the astronauts will spend at work with a module brought the shuttle to the ISS, as well as for loading debris into the cargo ship, which left the station in March.

Space Shuttle Discovery launched from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral during the day on Feb. 24 local time (early morning of Friday, February 25, Moscow time). February 26 shuttle docked with the ISS.

The current mission of the «Discovery» has become the 39th and last in its history — NASA shuttle program turns off. After the Discovery to the ISS in April 2011 should send the «Endeavour». In addition, the space agency is considering sending to the ISS in June, the shuttle Atlantis, but a final decision on this flight, is still pending.
