Russia has offered send the ISS to the Moon.

Russia has offered to partners on the International Space Station after the operation based on it a small spacecraft that can go beyond the near-Earth space. On this idea, the journalist told the head of manned programs Roscosmos Alexei Krasnov.
The exact purpose for the vessel has not yet been determined. «This may be the lunar orbit, or an asteroid, or something else», — explained Krasnov, and added that "the essence of the technical implementation of the yet to be determined Russian engineers, possibly with foreign colleagues. Head of management of manned programs of the federal space agency said that Russia in any case going to develop a spacecraft to travel beyond Earth’s orbit by 2020.

The future of the ISS partner countries on the draft discussed at the meeting held in Tokyo. According to Krasnov, the idea of Russian specialists has sparked the interest of colleagues on the ISS. In addition to making the station in a spaceship at the meeting discussed the possibility of extending the use of the International Space Station until 2028. Now the date of completion of work on the ISS was named in 2020.

Building the International Space Station was launched in 1998, when the orbit was launched Zarya. Currently, the station has ten core modules. More recently, it was docked to the Russian module «Search», or MIM-2 (Small Research Module-2). Space Shuttle Discovery, scheduled for launch on the fifth of April, will deliver to the ISS multipurpose transport module Leonardo.
