Astronauts could not connect the cable to Node 3

During the third and final spacewalk shuttle mission in the «Discovery» astronauts to the ISS fulfilled a large part of the planned works, but were not able to connect one of the cables to the module Node 3, which will be installed at the station in 2010. This was reported on Sunday at NASA.

American Danny Olivas and Swedish astronaut Christer Fyuglesang spent in space 7 hours and 1 minute. They, in particular, the successful replacement of worn-down parts and installed two GPS-antenna. They also managed to connect all the cables for the installation of Node 3, except for one.

Quick module Node 3 will be equipped with a cabin with a family inside, which will allow astronauts to make unique photos and more effectively manage the crane. In April 2009, it was decided to name the new block ISS Tranquility ( «Peace») in honor of the first landing on the moon in the Sea of Tranquility.

Recall the space shuttle «Discovery» was launched from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral on Aug. 28, 2009 with the fourth attempt. Space Shuttle undock from the ISS on Tuesday and should return to Earth on the night of September 11.
