NASA launched the latest meteorological satellite

National Aerospace Agency of the U.S. on Thursday, March 4, launched the latest meteorological satellite, transmits Associated Press.

Launch vehicle Delta-4 "satellite was launched from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral at 18:57 Eastern time (02:57 Moscow on March 5), adds AFP. In the near future satellite will be launched into the target orbit.

The satellite called GOES-P (Geostationary Operational satellite environmental monitoring) will be part of the American system, GOES, presented in orbit four similar devices. The mission of the newest satellite is designed for 10 years.

Upon reaching the satellite’s orbit will be assigned a serial number 15, after which he will collect information on climate change and send it back to Earth. In NASA noted that the data received from the satellite, will allow for more accurate monitoring of atmospheric phenomena and to predict these or other natural disasters.
