Two Soyuz Launchers Shipped from Samara to Baikonur

A train with two Soyuz rockets was shipped to Baikonur from Samara’s TSKB-Progress on Sept. 7. Soyuz-2.1a is to loft 6 Globalstar-2 spacecraft on Oct. 19. Soyuz-U will launch a Progress cargo vehicle in early 2011.
The train is to arrive at the space port later this week, or early next week. Prelaunch processing of Soyuz-2.1a will begin immediately, Soyuz-U will be kept in storage until the beginning of the launch campaign.
Soyuz is the most reliable launcher in the world, with the 50-year-history of success. Currently, the rocket flies from Baikonur and Plesetsk. Maiden launch of Russian Soyuz from French space port in South America is to take place in the nearest future.
