Progress M-02M: Successul Flight Experiment

Progress M-02M test rendezvous with the International Space Station has been successfully performed today. The cargo vehicle approached new Zvezda-SM docking port to be used for the docking of Mini-research module in Nov. 2009.
Automatic rendezvous monitoring carried out by MCC-M and ISS crew involved Kurs system. At 17:04 GMT, the Progress approached the docking port to the range of 17m.
According to the data of the MCC ops personnel, Progress maneuvers were performed successfully. After nominal completion of the rendezvous and hold processes, the departure command was issued.
This is the first docking port validation in the ISS history.
Progress M-02M is to be deorbited tomorrow, at 16:28 GMT, over the defined area of the Pacific. The unburnt elements shall fall down in the ocean 3400km to the East from Wellington, New Zealand.
