Spacecraft "Progress" docked to the ISS

The space vehicle «Progress-M-03M» on the morning of Sunday, October 18, docked to the International Space Station, Interfax reports with reference to the press service of the MCC. The docking was conducted automatically.

After the contraction happens docking ports will test the tightness of connections and equalized the pressure between the cargo ship and station, the astronauts will open the docking hatches. This operation is scheduled for 9:15 — 9:35 Moscow time. By unloading the ship, the astronauts will begin an hour and a half after digging hatches.

A truck delivered to the International Space Station 2.5 tons of cargo: a parcel, food, water supplies and other consumables necessary for the crew.

Launch vehicle Soyuz-U «with the spacecraft» Progress-M-03M «started the morning of 15 October from Baikonur» Progress-M-03M «became the third» digital "truck, sent into orbit. The first cargo ship, equipped with a digital control system, was launched to the ISS on Nov. 26, 2008. The last «analogue» truck — «Progress M-67» — was sent to the International Space Station in July 2009.

Transfer cargo spacecraft to the digital control system allows to increase the reliability of «progress», as well as room for additional cargo.
