Russian segment of the ISS can be the basis for spaceships.

If the partner countries on the International Space Station will not come to a consensus on the continuation of the life of the ISS after 2015, based on Russia’s segment will be to build a new station. This opinion was expressed at the MAKS-2009 President, General Designer of Rocket and Space Corporation «Energy» Vitaly Lopota.

Speaking about the development plans of Russia’s segment of the ISS, head of «Energy» reported that by 2015 Russia’s segment of the prirastet three modules. Small Research Module MIM-2 will be launched to the ISS in November this year (the exact launch date will be known later); him to join the service module «Zvezda». In April 2010 the module «Dawn» will be docked element MIM-1, which will be equipped with another docking port to receive ships «Soyuz-TMA».
