Shuttle Atlantis landed in California.. / May 25, 2009 /

On Sunday, May 24, at 19:40 MSK shuttle «Atlantis» successfully landed at the Air Force Base «Edwards» in California, AFP reports.

Originally planned that the shuttle landed at the cosmodrome at Cape Canaveral in Florida, but because of bad weather in the vicinity of the place of landing the leadership of the National Aerospace Agency United States (NASA) has decided to use the backup option. The first landing «Atlantis», was appointed even for Friday, May 22, but since then it has repeatedly postponed by weather conditions.

Starting shuttle with seven astronauts on board was held on May 11. The mission crew was in the repair of the orbital telescope «Hubble». To accomplish this task the astronauts carried out five EVAs in open space, with an average of 8 hours each.

In the course of the work has been renovated one of the chambers «Hubble», replaced batteries and a protective coating telescope. All work on the «Hubble» was completed on May 19.
