GLONASS-K will be launched from Plesetsk in the end of the year. / July 26, 2010 /

Launch of the first navigation spacecraft of a new generation GLONASS-K will be in the end of 2010 from Plesetsk.

In December 2010 at Plesetsk cosmodrome is planned to launch the first satellite Glonass-K. It will be implemented with the launch vehicle Soyuz-2 ", Interfax reports.

Satellite part of the GLONASS system almost fully deployed. Currently in the orbital constellation has 23 spacecraft, 21 of them used for their intended purpose, two are in a group orbital reserve.
To navigation signal covers the whole territory of Russia, must be at least 18 working satellites, 24 — on a global scale.

During the course of the Federal Program «GLONASS» were created digital navigation maps 168 cities. According to a source in government funding for the development of cartographic unit in the years 2002-2011 more than 6.6 billion rubles. It is assumed that by the end of this year, the GLONASS system will be available to users anywhere in the world.
