The usage of ISS have extend until 2020. / January 29, 2010 /

The project partners have agreed to extend the operation of the ISS station until 2020. It is reported channel Vesti 24 with reference to the head of RKK Energia Vital Lopota.

Head of rocket-space corporation said that construction of the International Space Station is scheduled for completion in 2015. Previously, as the date of the final formation of the ISS was called in 2010.

Lopota did not specify whether all the project partners supported the decision to extend the work on the station. In July 2009, representatives of NASA stated that the budget allows the agency to allocate funds for the operation of ISS just before 2016. Accordingly, the American side was going to withdraw from the project after that date. Nevertheless, it was reported that unofficially NASA still considering the possibility of prolonging the stay of the U.S. on the ISS.

More recently, to the orbital station was joined by another module. «Search» or MIM-2 (Small Research Module-2) Russia is the fourth module of the ISS. The design of «search» has been developed on the basis of the docking module «Pirs». But thanks to some modifications of the «Search» can be used as a full-fledged research laboratory.
