Proton-M Prelaunch Processing Begins at Baikonur. / July 8, 2009 /

Baikonur: experts of the Russian space industry commenced prelaunch operations with the Proton-M launcher this morning.
Stages of the rocket are unloaded from the carriage.
Proton-M and Breeze-M upper stage are intended for the launch of AsiaSat-5 telecommunications satellite in August.
Heavy-lift Proton-M is a modification of the Proton-K launcher, with upgraded systems, higher lifting capacity, improved orbiting accuracy, and better ecological parameters. Proton-M has been in operation since 2001.
