The First Chief Designer Council on OBZOR-R Space Complex Took Place. / August 9, 2013 /

At GNPRKTs „TsSKB-Progress“ there was held the first Chief Designer Council on the results of the draft design for the OBZOR-R space complex. The meeting was chaired by A.N. Kirilin, Director General, „TsSKB-Progress“ Center. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Federal Space Agency, partner companies relevant to this draft design, and specialists from enterprises – potential customers of the OBZOR-R data.
At the meeting there were presented the reports on the draft design for the OBZOR-R space complex development results and the development progress of the draft design for the OBZOR-R very high resolution radar system, power supply system and components, and ground segment. Other matters on the draft design development and implementation were also discussed.
The Chief Designer Council Совет assessed the OBZOR-R draft design degree of readiness. This draft design defence will be held in September 2013 at the Federal Space Agency.
The representatives of the EMERCOM of Russia, Rosreestr and other departments interested in the OBZOR-R data, confirmed the necessity in speedy implementation of this draft design.

For reference:

The „TsSKB-Progress“ Center will create the OBZOR-R radar observation space complex with a spacecraft to provide radar data at any time of day regardless of weather conditions to the benefit of the Russian Federation socio-economic development. The spacecraft is scheduled for launch with the Soyuz-2 launch vehicle in 2015.
The OBZOR-R space complex is being created under the Russia’s Federal Space Program for 2011-2015. It is designed to provide EMERCOM of Russia, Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography, and other ministries and departments with radar data for addressing the following tasks:
— Mapping;
— Ensuring safe navigation;
— Monitoring of natural and man-made disasters;
— Detection of potential dangerous geological processes, objects, and phenomena in regions of major object construction and operation;
— Information support of nature management, exploration activity, and agriculture.
