Rokot Rocket Puts Three Gonets-M Spacecraft into Orbit. / September 16, 2013 /

On 12 September at 03:22:50 Moscow Time, the Rokot carrier rocket with Briz-KM upper stage and three Gonets-M spacecraft of multifunction personal satellite communication and data downlink system (MSPSS) was launched from the Plesetsk State Launch Site of the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense (Plesetsk Cosmodrome).
The launch was performed by the Russian Defense Ministry specialists and the Russian Space Industry representatives.
In due time the spacecraft (manufactured by JSC „Academician M.F. Reshetnev“ Information Satellite Systems) were placed into the final orbit.
The Rokot light-class launch vehicle and Briz-KM uppers stage were manufactured by the Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center.

The Gonets-D1M low-orbit multifunction personal satellite communication and data downlink system is being created within the framework of the Federal Space Program of Russia by the ROSCOSMOS’s order. The Gonets system is capable of
— Providing governmental structures with communication with hard-to-reach regions and areas of poorly developed infrastructure;
— Transferring data on state and location of objects including mobile ones and monitoring of goods traffics (marine and river vessels, motor and railway transport);
— Ecological and industrial monitoring – automatic data acquisition (transmission) from served and non-served objects (electric power substations, oil and gas pipelines etc.), data acquisition from different intrusion or fire alarm detectors, ecological detectors, and etc);
— Interregional express data delivery including medical communication (telemedicine) in case of emergencies;
— Hydrometeorological data collection and transmission.
