Soyuz-2.1b Launched Successfully from Plesetsk. / December 25, 2014 /

On 25 December 2014 at 06:01 Moscow Time, the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with a communication satellite was launched from the State Test Cosmodrome of Russian Federation Ministry of Defense (Plesetsk Cosmodrome), Launching Pad 43. Liftoff was performed by the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense and Rocket & Space Industry.

The rocket start and satellite placing into target orbit were on schedule.

Three minutes after the launch, Soyuz-2.1b was taken to be supported by ground automated control complex.

The satellite was placed into the target orbit as scheduled and was taken under control by the Titov Space Control Center of Aerospace Defence Forces as scheduled (06:16).

Soyuz-2.1b manufactured by the TsSKB-Progress (Samara), is a modification of the Soyuz-2 carrier rocket. As compared with version „1a“, it has the third stage engine with the improved power characteristics. Soyuz-2.1b has a higher launching accuracy, stability and controllability, and increased payload mass then that of the previous version.
