Soyuz TMA-19M Docks with ISS. / December 15, 2015 /

The Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft docked with the International Space Station on 15 December 2015.

The spacecraft docked to the Rassvet Mini-Research Module of the Russian ISS Segment. The rendezvous was automated and controlled by experts of the Mission Control Center. Just prior to the docking, Soyuz TMA-19M was switched to manual control. The docking successfully took place at 20:33 MSK.

Soyuz TMA-19M delivered to the ISS the ISS Expedition-46/47 new crew members: a ROSCOSMOS cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko, a NASA astronaut Timothy Kopra and an ESA astronaut Timothy Peake.

„The docking took place in the manual mode due to a failure of automatic control. The commander switched to manual control and everything occurred as planned,“ Alexander Ivanov, Acting ROSCOSMOS Chief said.

„That showed once again the skills of the Crew Commander. The cosmonaut training methods at TsPK are of top level,“ Yuri Lonchakov, Head of Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center noted.
