Preparations for Launch of the Soyuz TMA-11M Manned Spacecraft Begin. / August 16, 2013 /

At the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the preparations for the launch of the next Soyuz TMA-11M manned spaceship begin.

The day before the spacecraft and supporting equipment have been delivered to the Baikonur Cosmodrome and on Thursday transported to assembly-and test building, Pad 254; the Cosmodrome teams of specialists started their acceptance. During the day the Soyuz TMA-11M will be placed in its Tests Stand for outer inspection and electrical testing.

The Soyuz TMA-11M lift-off with the Expedition 38/39 crew to the International Space Station is scheduled for November this year. The crews consisting of Mikhail Tyurin (Russia), Richard Mastracchio (USA), Koichi Wakata (Japan) and Maxim Suraev (Russia), Gregory Wiseman (USA), Alexander Gerst (Germany) are undergoing basic space training.

This lift-off will take the Olympic Torch – one of the main symbols of the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014 – to space!
