Remote Sensing Services of New Quality Discussed at Meeting with Authorities Representatives. / January 22, 2015 /

On 21 January 2015, the meeting with the representatives of Federal authorities held by ROSCOSMOS discussed the issues on executing space imagery requests and using space activity results in 2015.
The meeting held in the Research Center for Earth Operative Monitoring (NTs OMZ) of JSC „Russian Spec Systems“ was attended by representatives of ROSCOSMOS, EMERCOM of Russia, Ministry of Environment, Federal Property Agency, Federal Forestry Agency, Ministry of Energy, Roshydromet, Rosprirodnadzor, and other federal authorities concerned about space imagery data.
In the world today, the role and importance of data from remote sensing satellites is rising continuously. This is due to man-made and natural disasters which have become frequent over past decade, dramatic global climate change, and objective needs for data resulting from informatization of all economic spheres.
The quality of remote sensing satellite data is also growing continuously. Last year, the on-orbit remote sensing satellite constellation was completed by two new satellites Meteor-M No2 and Resurs-P No2 which are under in-flight testing now. Both satellites are equipped with modern instruments enabling better quality data acquisition.

The issues relating to use of domestic remote sensing spacecraft constellation in 2015 and its prospects until 2016 were discussed at the meeting. The technologies of imagery planning, remote sensing data acquisition and processing, value-added processing examples, and data products were demonstrated.
