RESURS-P satellite is launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. / June 27, 2013 /

On 25 June at 21:28 Moscow Time, the Soyuz-2.1b rocket with RESURS-P spacecraft was launched from Site 31/launch complex.

According to the flight plan, at 21:38 Moscow Time the RESURS-P spacecraft separated from the Soyuz-2.1b third stage and was placed on the target orbit.

The RESURS-P spacecraft is developed and manufactured by TsKB-Progress and designed for the Earth remote sensing and data downlink to ground station for its planning, processing, and distribution to such customers as Minprirody, EMERCOM, Minselkhoz, Rosrybolovstvo, Roshydromet, and Federal Service of State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography of Russia.

The RESURS-P remote sensing data will be used for addressing the following tasks:

— Inventory and monitoring of natural resources (agricultural lands and forests, grasslands, seafood grounds, and land cadastre creating) and economic processes to provide an efficient activity in agriculture, forestry, fishery, water industry, and other economic sectors;

— Monitoring of emergencies for prevention, warning mitigation and relief of natural disasters, accidents, and catastrophes and for effects assessment to plan proper reconstruction actions;

— Data acquisition to compile and update geographical, thematic, and topographical maps of different scale;

— Environmental pollution and degradation monitoring including ecological monitoring of exploration work and mining areas, and environmental pollution detection and study;

— Monitoring of water protection and reserved areas;

— Information support for oil, natural gas, ore mineral, and other mineral deposit exploration;

— Monitoring of territory building, acquisition of data for engineering evaluation of terrain to the benefit of economical activity;

— Information support for construction of mains and large facilities, highways and railways, oil and gas pipelines, and communication systems;

— Detection and of illegal drug crops and their eradication control;

— Ice conditions assessment.

The REUSRS-P data may be also used for international cooperation development of Russia in the field of environmental control and other pressing issues of remote sensing.
