The telescope "Hubble" has got the new chamber

To the Moscow time have finished the first extravehicular activity within the limits of mission of a shuttle «Atlantis», it is informed on site NASA.

In an operating time in a free space astronauts have established on a telescope «Hubble» new chamber Wide Field Camera 3. The chamber which is the basic working tool of a telescope, has replaced Wide Field Planetary Camera 2, maintained during 16 years.

Installation of the new chamber was main and most a challenge of Gransfilda and Fojstela. As marks Agence France Presse, dismantle of the old chamber has caused certain difficulties therefore they have stayed in a free space on half an hour longer in astronauts, than has been planned.

Besides, astronauts have replaced computer system of processing and the telescope data transmission, responsible work of all components of «Hubble» and data transmission from a telescope with the Earth. Astronauts also have established on a telescope new стыковочное the device and have spent a number of other jobbing on «Hubble’s» repairing.

The exit in space proceeded more than seven hours and became the first of five shuttles «Atlantis» planned within the limits of mission. The following operation in a free space is appointed to May, 15th.
