The Progress M-17M Resupply Spacecraft Corrected the Orbit of the International Space Station

In order to form a working orbit of the International Space Station before the flight of Progress M-19M cargo spacecraft, the landing of manned Soyuz TMA-07M spacecraft, and the flight of manned spacecraft Soyuz TMA-09M spacecraft, the ISS orbit was corrected.

The maneuver was carried out on 3 April using the Progress M-17M engines.

According to the ballistic-navigation service the Mission Control Center of TsNIImash, the resupply spacecraft engines were started at 23:40 Moscow Time and worked for 277.3 seconds.

This dynamic operation resulted in the ISS increment velocity by 0.6m/s. The average height of the ISS orbit increased by 1kilometer and was 410.7km.

After the correction, the ISS orbital parameters were:
— Minimal altitude above the Earth’s surface — 406.8km;
— Maximum altitude above the Earth’s surface — 435.5km;
— Orbit period — 92.72m;
— Inclination — 51.66deg.
