Seismic disaster in Haiti. / January 18, 2010 /

January 12, 2010 earthquake catastrophe occurred in Haiti, with a magnitude of 7.0. According to the extreme of information during an earthquake in Haiti has suffered nearly three million people made homeless were more than a third of the population. The number of victims could reach 100 thousand people.

Signs of the preparation of powerful earthquakes began to emerge with 8 Dec. 2009 (Annex 1) . This, above all, the anomalies in the gravity measurements installations Martynov OV, as well as proton and telluric measurements. Based on these data a group of specialists and experts NTs OMZ, the Center «forecast» (Head Martynov OV, Tula), distant school «Kosmometeotektonika» (Director Bobrovskii VS, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky) is a forecast of 11.12 .2009 (Annex 2) . This forecast was voiced by Doda LN on the report at the meeting Russian expert council on earthquake prediction, seismic risk assessment and risk, which took place on Dec. 11, 2009. According to the method of forecasting used in NTs OMZ, which provides for the extension of the projection is not more than 2 times in total up to 28 days, the forecast was prolonged to January 18, 2010. As seen from Annex 2, projections are borne out of the place, date and magnitude. But it is not excluded and further development of seismic events.
