Endeavor astronauts go for a spacewalk

The astronauts docked to the International Space Station, space shuttle «Endeavor» began the first exit into open space. This Feb. 12 is reported on the official site of NASA.

Robert Behnken (Robert Behnken) and Nicholas Patrick (Nicholas Patrick) started the first entry in the planned 21:17 Eastern time (05:17 Friday to Moscow). In the open space, astronauts will stay for about six and a half hours. During this time the astronauts will have to prepare for the installation, and then set brought to the ISS module "Tranquility» (Tranquility). This module — the last «addition» the U.S. to the ISS — equipped with a special overview dome, which will allow astronauts to observe the work of the ISS manipulator without external cameras and make unprecedented images of the Earth.

For Behnken this will be the fourth spacewalks. In 2008 he spent in the open space in a total of 19 hours and 19 minutes. Patrick goes into space the first time in his life. The work of astronauts to the ISS will coordinate their colleague Steve Robinson (Steve Robinson). The pilot «Endeavor» Virtsu Terry (Terry Virts) and specialist Khair Kay (Kay Hire) will assume management of the ISS manipulator.
