The Atlantis Space Shuttle Docked to the ISS.

Shuttle Atlantis is performing its last flight in orbit, docked to the International Space Station. This is reported on the official site of NASA.

On board the shuttle were six U.S. astronauts. They will join the crew of the 23rd expedition to the ISS, headed by Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kotov. Total space station crew will meet from 12 people.

Atlantis was launched from Baikonur at Cape Canaveral on May 14. Shuttle delivered into orbit about 12 tons of equipment, including Russian research module «Dawn». During the mission, Atlantis’ astronauts to perform three spacewalks.

The current mission was to «Atlantis» 32-th in a row. Its first flight this canoe made in 1985. Operation of «Atlantis» is terminated in connection with the closure of the shuttle. The last two flights in the history of space shuttles perform Discovery and Endeavour, which will go into orbit in September and November 2010 respectively.
