Russia to Launch 3 More Earth Observation Satellites in 1,5 Years

Russian Earth observation orbital constellation to be enlarged by three more satellites in 1-1.5 years, Anatoly Perminov, Head of the Russian Federal Space Agency said questioned by The Voice of Russia.
"We still miss satellites, in reality we have only two – Resource-DK and Meteor-M1. We understand that this is not enough“, Perminov stated.
According to him, data of both spacecraft are in demand, but Meteor provides more data about forest fires.
Perminov also added that another Russian weather satellite Electro-L is to be launched in 2010, provided successful completion of the necessary testing.
The other spacecraft, Kanopus-V is slated for launch in the first quarter of 2011. Resource-P will probably fly in 2011 as well, Perminov said.
