Meeting on Fulfilling Orders for Space Imagery. / February 27, 2014 /

The ROSCOSMOS meeting with the Russian Federal executive authority representatives was held on 26 February 2014 in the Russian Space Systems Corporation office (Operator of remote sensing facilities NTs OMZ). The meeting focused on the requirements for space imaging orders in 2014 and practical use of space activities results to the benefit of socio-economic development of the Russian Federation regions.

The meeting was attended by V.A. Zaichko, Deputy Head of ROSCOSMOS Department for Automatic Space Complexes and Systems, V.A. Selin, Deputy Chief Designer on Earth Remote Sensing of JSC Russian Space Systems, and representatives of REKOD Research and Production Center and JSC Research Institute of Precision Instruments.

More than 200 representatives from 56 regions of Russia, regional executive authorities, enterprises concerned with space data including the Russian universities took part in the conference. The reports represented at the meeting were devoted to the capabilities of the Russian remote sensing satellite constellation in 2014 and its development prospects; space imagery data acquisition from Resurs-P1, Resurs-DK1, Kanopus-V1, Meteor-M1, and Elektro-L1 spacecraft; imaging equipment capabilities and data products; procedure of provision of the executive authorities with remote sensing data and the ROSCOSMOS Geoportal capabilities; rending of services on practical use of the space activities results.
The meeting was held both traditionally and in the form of Webinar in order to increase the audience and because of number of region remoteness that enabled more than 150 registered attendees to watch the event, to review reports and presentations, and to ask questions and obtain answers.
By tradition, the technology of imaging planning, data acquisition, processing and presentation in the Operator’s workstations was demonstrated. The information about the capabilities of remote sensing data delivery and use was appreciated by the event participants. The intentions of using actively the data from the Russian remote sensing satellite constellation to solve tasks of their departments were stated.
The meeting attendees and Webinar participants of the Russian Federation executive authorities and regions recognized the conference was of importance and well organized.
