China successfully launched the fifth navigation satellite. / August 2, 2010 /In China tooke place the launch of the fifth satellite navigation system «Beydou» («Compass»), which plans to create the countrys authorities. It is reported by Xinhua. Launch rocket «Long March-3» satellite passed at 5:30 am local time at Baikonur Sichang, located in Sichuan province in south-west. It is assumed that the navigation system «Beydou» will consist of 35 satellites. In the first phase of work, by 2012 the system should start in the Asia-Pacific region, and by 2020, spread to the entire globe. «Beydou» will become the Chinese equivalent of the American GPS and Russian GLONASS. |
