The shuttle "Atlantis" has joined a telescope "Hubble". / May 14, 2009 /The shuttle «Atlantis» has successfully joined on May, 13th a telescope «Hubble»: the telescope has been grasped by the shuttle manipulator. On it informs RIA Novosti news agency referring to the representative of National space agency (NASA). The crew «Atlantisa» will spend a series of works on repair and improvement of an orbital telescope that should prolong term of work of «Hubble» till 2014. In particular, on a telescope a number of tools will be repaired, the new computer is established and some devices are replaced. It is expected that mission will occupy 11 days in which course the crew will make five exits in space. Start of a shuttle «Atlantis» to «Hubble» it was planned to carry out in October, 2008, however subsequently mission has been transferred for May, 2009. Source: Lenta. Ru |
