The shuttle "Atlantis" was started successfully to a telescope by "Hubble". / May 12, 2009 /

On May, 11th from a launching pad of the space centre Kennedy has been successfully started a shuttle «Atlantis». On it is informed on an official site of the American space agency (NASA).

Onboard the ship there are 7 astronauts which main task is repair of a space telescope «Hubble». Start has passed in a regular mode, the shuttle already is in an orbit. It is expected that the crew will spend eleven days in space.

During five exits in space the crew «Atlantisa» will carry out repair of some telescope tools, will replace its computer, and also will establish on it new devices. According to the plan, the given actions should prolong «Hubble’s» work to which in April 19 years, till 2014 were executed.

Initially a shuttle intended to send to a telescope in October, 2008, however computer «Hubble» breakage has compelled NASA to transfer start for May, 2009.
