Express-AM8 Starts Operating. / December 2, 2015 /

The Express-AM8 communication satellite manufactured by the JSC Information Satellite Systems — Reshetnev Company started operating according to its mission purpose. On 1 December 2015, the satellite was taken under the control of the Russian Satellite Communication Company, the Customer. Express-AM8 was placed into a geostationary orbit via its DM-03 Upper Stage on 15 September 2015. The Proton-M/Express-AM8 was launched by the ROSCOSMOS and Rocket & Space Industry specialists.

Express-AM8 is designed to provide digital television broadcasting services, high-speed Internet access, and fixed and mobile communication. From its orbital position 14°W, Express-AM8 will be able to provide communication over Russia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

The satellite is an Express-1000HTB platform from the ISS Reshetnev. The platform power available to the payload is 5600W. Express-AM8 is equipped with 42 transponders operating in С-, Ku- and L-bands and is designed to provide at least 15 years of satellite service.
